The Nebraska State Historical Society (NSHS), contracted with Mead & Hunt to conduct a survey of South Omaha. Mead & Hunt completed the survey and prepared this report June 2005.
Mead & Hunt conducted the project in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Archaeology and Historic Preservation and Standards for Identification and Evaluation and Nebraska survey standards. Surveyed properties were evaluated for their potential to be eligible for the National Register.
This report documents the results of historical research and field investigations. An overview of the historic development of South Omaha is provided. This historic context helped to inform the decisions regarding eligibility. A discussion of the survey methodology, architectural styles and associated historic contexts of properties documented within the survey area is provided in the report. The recommendations for the National Register are contingent on additional research.
